Nightshade: A SimLit | Chapter 32: Eternal Love
"Well, what do you think?" Amelia asked to the group of people in her room as she turned to face them.
"You look beautiful," her father replied with a smile. "I'm so proud of you."
"Yeah, you look great, Amelia!" Brynn added. "Onyx is totally going to swoon when he sees you."
Raven couldn't help but smile. "Amelia... you..." her voice trailed off. "...you look wonderful. Like a vampire queen."
Amelia smiled. "Thank you..." she looked to her brother, who hadn't said anything yet. "Cat got your tongue, Alexander?"
Alexander pulled her into a hug, grinning from ear to ear. "You look amazing. I couldn't be more happy for you... I might even cry. Maybe."
"You will. And I'll never let you live it down," Brynn teased.
"Whatever!" Alexander laughed.
"Well, the rest of us should get ready for the wedding, too... Onyx is already waiting outside. He can't contain himself." Alexander grinned. "You won't have to keep him waiting much longer. Are you ready?"
"I've never been more ready for anything in my life."
Onyx stared in awe as Amelia approached the archway, arm in arm with her father. He had waited so long for this moment and it was finally here. He tried his best to blink back the tears threatening to spill from his eyes.
Amelia reached the arch and Garrett took a seat in the front row of chairs. Suddenly feeling a little nervous, she met Onyx's gaze, his eyes illuminating the darkness of the night. When she looked into them, all of her nervousness melted away. In a few minutes, he would be her husband. It was almost surreal, but her chest tightened with anticipation at the thought of it.
The officiant looked around to ensure everyone was in their proper place, preparing to begin the ceremony.
Alexander smiled at them, feeling the tears starting to come to his eyes, too.
"I told you that you would cry," Brynn whispered, a playful tone in her voice.
"Dearly Beloved, we are gathered here today to witness the joining together of this man and woman in holy matrimony, which is commended to be honorable among all people, and therefore is not by any to be entered into lightly, but solemnly. If any person can show just cause as to why this man and woman may not be joined together in marriage, speak now or forever hold your peace."
Elaine scowled, and began to open her mouth when she heard a sharp, angry whisper from beside her.
"Don't you dare!" Garrett quietly snapped. "Keep your mouth shut for once! Please..."
She looked over at him, frowning. "But--"
Garrett didn't let her finish, barely managing to keep his voice a whisper in his frustration. "Just shut up, Elaine! Don't ruin this for our daughter. Look at her. She's so happy..."
Elaine shook her head, reluctantly remaining silent.
"Alright..." The officiant smiled. "Then we may proceed with the vows."
Onyx felt his heart pounding. 'I'm going to mess them up. And my palms are so sweaty... I hope she doesn't notice how sweaty my palms are...'
Amelia took a deep breath to compose herself, her eyes brimming with tears.
"Do you, Onyx Nightshade," the officiant began, "take Amelia to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, until death do you part?"
The words stung. Until death do you part.
He smiled regardless. "I do."
The officiant paused momentarily. "And "Do you, Amelia Wesley, take Onyx to be your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, until death do you part?"
Amelia smiled, gazing into Onyx's eyes, her heart fluttering in her chest. "I do."
"I now pronounce you husband and wife," The officiant smiled. "You may kiss the bride."
Onyx wasted no time pulling her into a kiss. Amelia swore it was her brother that let out a cheer as he did, and she tried not to roll her eyes, focusing only on Onyx.
Amelia's lips were locked with Onyx's in a passionate kiss as she ran her fingers through his hair, her entire body slowly becoming consumed by burning desire. Onyx parted from the kiss, resting his forehead against hers. His breathing was growing heavier, and an intense blush had long ago spread across his cheeks. "You're so beautiful... you know that?" His lips curled into a sweet smile as he ran his hand along her side, his fingers gliding across her skin lightly.
Amelia felt her cheeks grow hotter, and she looked down, her eyes fixated on his toned torso. She lowered her hands to his abdomen, tracing the firm muscles underneath them. "Well, you're perfect..."
Onyx pushed her forward and she fell back onto the bed, bringing him down with her. "P-Perfect? Hardly..." Onyx shook his head, smiling. "You're the perfect one..."
Amelia silently met his gaze, her hands resting on his waist. Her heart pounded faster as she felt his body pressing closer against hers.
Onyx's smile faded. "Amelia? You okay?"
"Y-Yeah..." Amelia broke their eye contact shyly. "I'm just..."
"Nervous?" Onyx guessed. "It's okay. I'm nervous too... but you can trust me."
"I know," she smiled. "I do trust you..."
Onyx smiled at her, his lips finding their way to her neck. "I love you, Amelia," he muttered between kisses, and a thought came to his mind. 'I could turn her. Right here, right now. It would only take a split second. But I can't do that, not unless she wants me to... as much as I don't want to lose her...'
I'm probably crying harder than all these characters combined right now
